Contains Sharp-Cutting 3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain

The 3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain in Scotch-Brite™ Light Grinding and Blending Belt has outstanding durability, cuts exceptionally fast and has a long service life. 3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain is a proprietary ceramic mineral formed using a process to enhance toughness and hardness of the grain. It is chemically engineered with a unique "stay sharp" crystalline structure, which continually reveals fresh cutting edges, ensuring extended high performance and real productivity benefits.

Scotch-Brite™ Light Grinding and Blending Belt is commonly used for blending and light grinding on a variety of materials; it performs best on stainless steel, carbon steel, titanium and nickel alloys. Among Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Belts, this sanding belt is stiffer and more durable. The tough cloth scrim backing will not yield or deflect on the substrate; it's well-suited for low-stretch applications where a deeper scratch and coarser finish are desirable. Moreover, the low-stretch backing means this abrasive belt is resistant to wear and sharp edges. Given its ability to cut sharp and maintain its shape, this belt is useful in a variety of industries – from transportation to metal fabrication.

Belt Variations

Scotch-Brite™ Light Grinding and Blending Belt is available in a few different grades, super-duty coarse (SD-CRS) and heavy-duty coarse (HD-CRS). A super-duty coarse (SD-CRS) grade is best for a super strong cut, whereas the heavy-duty coarse (HD-CRS) grade is best for softer cut. The belt is also available in different types: file, narrow, portable, pump sleeve and wide & flat finishing. Operators should consider tools, surface area, contours and dimensions of a workpiece when choosing a belt. Narrow belts, for example, are commonly used in benchstand and backstand applications, and given their narrow widths, are good on parts like camshafts with narrow lobes. Pump sleeves, on the other hand, are fitted around pneumatic drums and used for sanding irregular shapes and contours.

The Many Benefits of Open Web Abrasives

Nonwoven technology makes Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives unique. A combination of fiber strands, resin and abrasive mineral forms a thick, open web. The spring-like nature of the fibers responds to contours and effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece, which in turn reduces rework and boosts productivity. Gaps in the web allow swarf to escape, so debris does not clog the mineral. Fibers in the web continually break down with use to reveal fresh mineral for exceptional consistency, superior cut performance and extremely long service life. Scotch-Brite products not only enhance productivity, but also increase operator safety. From aesthetic finishing to weld blending, deburring and more, Scotch-Brite abrasives work fast and deliver consistent results, part after part.

Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Belts

Overall, operators choose Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Belts for cleaning, finishing, blending and deburring. The non-woven material combined with abrasive grain is an ideal way to add a great finish or remove burrs without compromising the geometry of the work piece. Trust Scotch-Brite™ Belts to deliver fantastic finishes.
