The Scotch-Brite™ Light Coating Removal Sheet is engineered with the right abrasive elements, so it would abrade workpieces with softness and finesse. it's designed for light coating removal – rust, paint and other contaminants – on a variety of metals: mild steel, carbon steel, stainless steel and cast and wrought iron. This abrasive differs from that used on the Scotch-Brite™ Light Deburring Sheet in that the mineral is medium (MED) grade, making this particular abrasive a good match for coating removal.
Scotch-Brite™ Light Coating Removal Sheet features aluminum oxide mineral, popular among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of substrates.
Flexibility in Form and FunctionOne of the greatest attributes of the Scotch-Brite™ Light Coating Removal Sheet is that it comes in sheet form. This means it is malleable and can be tailored to fit your project needs. This product can be ordered pre-sized to desired dimensions. Some operators may cut the sheet for manual use on a hand block. Loop backing allows for easy and secure attachment to hooks on sanding tools.
The Many Benefits of Scotch-Brite™ AbrasivesNonwoven technology makes Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives unique. A combination of fiber strands, resin and abrasive mineral forms a thick, open web. The spring-like nature of the fibers responds to contours and effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils, and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece, which in turn reduces rework and boosts productivity. Gaps in the web allow swarf to escape, so debris does not clog the mineral as easily. Fibers in the web continually break down with use to reveal fresh mineral for exceptional consistency, superior cut performance, and extremely long service life. Scotch-Brite products may enhance productivity while reducing the need for cleaning chemicals and wire brushes. From aesthetic finishing to weld blending, Coating Removal, and more, Scotch-Brite abrasives work fast and deliver consistent results, part after part.
- Flexible, conformable abrasive sheet responds well to edges, contours and surface irregularities
- Gaps between nylon fibers permit debris to escape for enhanced load resistance
- Aluminum oxide mineral cuts sharp and fast
- Medium-grade (MED) mineral makes this abrasive ideal for coating removal
- Sheet may be cut and shaped according to project needs
- Loop backing allows for attachment to Hookit™ sanding tools
