The Scotch-Brite™ KS Clean and Finish Sheet has the flexibility needed to match contoured or irregular surfaces that require maintenance and repair, and does its job without damaging the underlying part. Ideal for light-duty, medium-pressure applications – such as cleaning and surface preparation prior to paint or sealant, cleaning, paint prep, scratch blending, and finishing – the sheet can be folded or cut to size and used on solid surfaces, painted panels, and other materials. It works well on aluminum, stainless steel and other metals, and is also suitable for use on plastics, wood and fiberglass. Sheets can be rinsed for repeated use.
Choose Mid-Range Density for a Step Up in DurabilityThe sheet is created from a non-woven 3D web of fibers that offers consistent results and helps prevent loading for extra long life. It delivers all the great benefits you expect from Scotch-Brite™ products—the web conforms to uneven surfaces and leaves an incredibly consistent finish without undercutting the workpiece—but is engineered with increased stiffness to provide added durability when you need it. Compared to a standard Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Finish Sheet, this sheet is denser and more resistant to tearing, but less heavy-duty than the Scotch-Brite™ Production Clean and Finish Sheet. The KS Sheet with ultra fine silicon carbide is similar to a dark gray Scotch-Brite™ 6448 Hand Pad, while it is denser and more aggressive than other light-duty products such as the light gray Scotch-Brite™ 7448 Hand Pad. Use this to replace steel wool—the material will not rust yet produces a finish comparable to Steel Wool #0000.
Create a Superior Finish with Ultra Fine Grade AbrasiveUltra fine grade KS Clean and Finish Sheets contain silicon carbide. Silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint prep. While it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish.
The Scotch-Brite™ AdvantageNonwoven technology makes our Scotch-Brite™ abrasives unique. The abrasive mineral is resin-bonded onto synthetic fibers, creating an open web construction. Spaces between the fibers permit excess material to escape, so the mineral does not get worn down by debris. It keeps the mineral cutting sharper longer, enhancing cut performance and increasing abrasive service life. The spring-like nature of the fibers works well on contours and responds to subtleties on the surface. Its responsive design effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils and contaminants without ruining the base material, so you get a consistent and uniform finish – part after part.
- Light-duty sheet is comparable to a Scotch-Brite™ 6448 Hand Pad and designed to clean, finish, blend and polish by hand
- Dense, thick web performs more aggressively than other light-duty products, with a tighter scratch and more uniform results
- Dark gray sheet is slightly stiffer than a light gray Scotch-Brite™ 7448 Hand Pad and better for paint prep applications
- Ultra fine silicon carbide produces a fine finish comparable to steel wool #0000
- Flexible, non-woven web construction conforms to contours and resists loading for long life and consistent finishes
