The 3M PELTOR LEP-200 is a cutting-edge electronic earplug system that changes how professionals protect their hearing and communicate. Unlike traditional earplugs that only block noise, the Peltor LEP 200 uses level-dependent technology to protect hearing from loud sounds while allowing safe sounds to be heard clearly.

The core function of the 3M LEP-200 is its integrated level-dependent technology. Environmental microphones capture ambient sounds. When noise is low, the system amplifies these sounds, helping users maintain situational awareness and communicate more easily with colleagues. However, when a sudden or sustained loud noise occurs (like a machinery strike or a gunshot, for recommended applications like shooting), the earplugs instantly reduce the sound to a safe level, protecting the user's hearing.

This system is designed for convenience and extended use. The earpieces are rechargeable, either via the portable charging case with a Micro USB cable or by replacing the 3 AA Alkaline batteries. The design also enables improved communication: the earpieces include a small antenna that wirelessly receives audio signals from an optional neckloop accessory (not included), enabling two-way communication via shoulder microphones or cell phones.
