Sharp Minerals for a Fine FinishThe 3M™ Glass Seaming Cloth Belt 461F uses silicon carbide, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and excellent finish. Silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low to medium-pressure applications such as finishing stainless steel and glass . While it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish. This makes it best suited for sanding and finishing applications on softer surfaces like wood, composite glass and stainless steel. Tough, Flexible and Water ResistantThe 461F belt is backed with a Y-weight cloth that supports both wet and dry applications. Cloth-backed belts are known for their combination of durability and flexibility, which makes them a good first choice for jobs that require both fine sanding and heavy stock removal. At the same time, many such applications produce a significant amount of dust, which clogs the abrasive points and creates an inferior work environment. These effects can be minimized by sanding with water or a coolant to rinse dust away from the workpiece and the abrasive surface. The water resistant polyester backing on 3M™ Glass Seaming Cloth Belt 461F makes this possible as well, so that you can get the result you need.
Strong Resin BondingThis belt also uses a resin bonding which is specially designed to resist thermal and chemical deterioration, which can misshape glass surfaces during high speed grinding or finishing. This bond is very hard and excellent for precision work on delicate surfaces like glass, and also allows for faster cuts at a higher rate.
