They're used prior to paint finishing abrasives or traditional buffing compounds and pads. These film-backed discs are used damp to help prevent loading and the curly-Qs and pig tails that dry sanding discs can leave behind.

These durable discs have a film backing that resists tearing and flexes over uneven surfaces. Discs are used damp to maintain a clean surface and maximize disc life.
Used before any 3M™ Perfect-It™ Paint Finishing system or traditional buffing process.
Level dirt nibs and refine sand scratches with fewer deep-scratch defects than dry sanding abrasives with 3M™ Trizact™ Clear Coat Sanding Discs P1500.
