3M™ PPS™ Cup & Collar is a component set used with the 3M™ Paint Preparation System (PPS™). These items are hard plastic cups and collars that provide support for 3M™ PPS™ flexible liners. Our cups and collars are available in various sizes to match your needs for your paint sprayer.

Unlike conventional paint cup systems, our 3M™ PPS™ eliminates the need for mixing paint in additional paint mix cups and then transferring the paint through a separate filter into a paint reservoir. This is an important advantage because product waste occurs every time that an auto body technician transfers paint through mixing cups and filters. With PPS™, you place the disposable liner within the re-usable PPS™ Cup. Then simply mix the paint in the PPS™ disposable liner, snap the disposable lid (with the pre-welded filter) in place and attach the locking collar to complete the PPS™ System. With just these few simple steps, you're ready to start spraying.

PPS™ allows the painter to spray consistently 90°; to the part, no matter how the part is positioned. This makes material transfer more consistent, limits paint overspray and lowers paint consumption. With conventional systems, many painters mix more paint than necessary to reduce the chance of starving the gun, which results in wasted paint when it's time to clean up. Our PPS™ eliminates the urge to mix more paint than needed because "starving the gun" is simply not a problem.

After spraying, the painter has a choice of either using a sealing plug to temporarily store non-catalyzed paint materials or clean-up. The liner, lid and built-in filter are all disposable, leaving only the adapter and spray gun to be cleaned. Simply throw the disposable lid and liner in the appropriate approved waste containers specified by the paint manufacturer (or local government requirements) and use a small amount of solvent for cleaning the spray gun and the PPS™ adapter. It is possible to clean your paint gun with as little as 3 fluid ounces (90mL) of solvent. With this disposable paint system, shops are often experiencing up to a 70% reduction in cleaning solvents, which can translate into cleaning solvent savings, solvent disposal savings and less operator exposure to solvents.

Specifically designed PPS™ stainless steel metal adapters allow painters to use the PPS™ system with virtually any spray gun. Painters also have the option to use the 3M™ HG series Accuspray™ spray gun, which requires no adapters. When painting cars, auto body technicians will find that using Accuspray further reduces cleaning solvent usage and improves overall productivity.

Because the painter uses a new disposable lid (with welded-in filter) and disposable liner for each mix, there is less risk of outside contamination due to mixing, filtering, and clean up. Using a fresh liner and lid with each paint job, rather than washing out reusable components, often improves overall productivity in prep and clean-up time by as much as 50%.
