The abrasive mineral is distributed precisely and uniformly over the backing, which helps produce a consistent, predictable finish each time.

Due to the fine grade ranges, it's visually difficult to distinguish one grade from another, and because some applications may require multiple grits on the same machine simultaneously, the 3M™ Microfinishing film is color-coded to help avoid errors.
