Use for Outer Surfaces of Internal Diameters The Standard Abrasives™ Aluminum Oxide Plain Cloth Disc is very effective for more aggressive application in coarse grits, while slotted discs work well for less aggressive follow-up steps. Slotted discs have incisions along the outer perimeter of the disc, which enables them to yield and forgive and, ultimately, fit inside internal diameters and chambers. By comparison, plain cloth discs are a good match for outer surfaces or the entry points of internal diameters, because they forgive less but cut more aggressively. Aluminum Oxide for Metals, Rubber, Plastic and Composites Aluminum oxide discs are a good match for operators who desire an all-purpose disc with great economy. The mineral cuts fast while blending and deburring and is a good choice for applications on many substrates including ferrous metals, rubber, plastic and composites. Running a Plain Cloth Disc For the convenience of tool-free disc changes, our plain cloth discs have either a threaded eyelet arbor hole that screws onto a mandrel and is secured by hand with an attachment bolt. A shorter mandrel allows for a steadier application, while a mandrel with extended reach allows access deeper into pipe interiors.
